Here are a few recent letters that I have received from students:
Barbara Bliss really changed my life. The difference between
the voice I had the day I started class with Barbara and now is
day and night. She tought me to place my voice correctly in every
style. Before I met Barbara I was a dancer with with a weak voice
and now I can proudly say I'm strong singer. Heck I just did a 6
month contract of Sound of Music as Maria in Mexico City, 7 shows
a week and never missed a single performance. I could never have
done that before Barbara. This may sound corny, but I feel like
I finally have all the weapons to go to artistic war with.
I'm very grateful
Bianca Marroquin, Broadway: Chicago, Pajama Game, In the Heights
Barbara is just amazing. I have never met a more wonderful
and caring woman. She is so kind and is the kind of person you
want teaching you. Her techniques are wonderful. She will get
your voice in incredible shape. She will strive to find the right
exercises to get the most out of your voice. After a few months of
studying with Barbara my voice was able to do things it had never done.
(I have been singing professionally for 20 years!) I went home
from every lesson smiling. It was the best. The most impressive of
all was the consideration and the thought she puts into her students.
After only one lesson, when I came back for the second, she had a list
of things she thought would be good for me to sing. I was so impressed
with the thought she put into a new student.
Roy G. Bean, Bari/Tenor: Mary Sunshine in Broadway's hit musical
Chicago
"Thank you, Barbara, for your encouragement, your
generosity of spirit, and for giving me the
benefit of your wonderful knowledge of the singing
voice. After a long time away from the business,
it's good to be back, in large part due to you."
Edward Bruce Stevenson, Tenor (as Edgar Stivan): Radio Italiana
(RAI) Rome, Milan, Naples; The Montreal Opera; Dallas Civic
Opera; Miami Grand Opera; Denver Opera (Met West); Seattle
Opera; St. Louis Symphony; Cleveland Ballet, State Theater
Inauguration.
"Thank you for helping me find my voice. I'm on a long road,
but you've helped me with patience and diligence and focus as
well as technique that works. And you can quote that! You're
the best!"
Constance Marie Noyes, Mezzo-Soprano
"I wanted to thank you for all your help in preparing for my
successful audition for the university music department.
As a countertenor, it is hard finding a teacher that understands
this vocal fach. You make learning exciting and easy to understand.
I learned more from you in a few lessons than all my other years of
study put together! Your talent is one of a kind! Thanks again."
Shawn Guin, Countertenor
"Thank you Barbara, for being such a wonderful singing teacher. You
have brought out my voice and my spirit. I don't know what I would have done
without your constant support and incredible singing techniques.
I have made it to La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts
and I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you so much!"
